ABOUT THE ARTWORK SHOWN: In Green Flash, the second of two companion photographic pieces taken during the filming of his Animal Planet television show in the Sea of Cortez, marine life artist Wyland captures the stunning green flash at sunset. “After swimming with a large pod of sperm whales we were making our way back to our live-aboard boat, the Don Jose,” the artist says. “The sky was filled with the color of an abstract expressionist portrait, and I wanted to paint the scene with my digital camera. Then I saw the green flash and was able to capture that rare moment of last sunlight before the evening.”
